2. You Stay Within Your Comfort Zone Change is scary. But anything worth doing is bound to bring some fear. You won't achieve anything if you always shy away from making the big move. Fear is a waste of time and resources. So bust through that wall and make something happen! ~By Kevin Daum, Inc Magazine
I read an article this weekend and this part has stuck with me.
I’m a planner, I make lists upon lists, pros / cons, research data, talk to mentors, learn, deduce, decide and only then act. Lots goes into my choices, surly sometimes to much.
Every time though, right after I announce my decision, I promptly want to vomit.
I second guess everything. Like somehow those weeks and years of planning weren’t enough. I don’t need to take that job, move to that place, partner with that company… and even... eat healthy, exercise, take that vacation, etc. etc. etc.
But that planning was enough. My decision was solid. The truth is change is SCARY.
Something as simple as cooking more at home, means that you have to add tasks to your day – shop, chop, sizzle. What if my family doesn’t like it, what if I burn it, what if there is traffic?
What if, what if, what if. With every what if, you are losing time.
Life is full of what ifs and change, and the counter doesn’t stop because you’re afraid. “Change’ got you through the awkward high school years. As scary as it is, it got you right here and it is the catalysis to get you where you want to be.
Without change, 5 years from now, you will be at this exact (potentially thorny) place.
So, push through the thorny patch, I promise there is a sunny spot just on the other side.
